Soft drinks are incredibly popular in Mexico. In 2024, the consumption volume of soft drinks in the country surpassed 128 liters per person, although it is expected to decrease to about 121 liters in 2030. Coca-Cola is, by far, the most popular beverage brand in Mexico.The product variety also ensures that the tastes and preferences of their customers are included, as they offer the classic carbonated beverages, both with and without sugar, still water, energy drinks, teas and juices, and even milk and milk-alternative products. However, carbonated drinks are still their most popular products. In 2024, round 69 percent of the products sold in the country were carbonated drinks.
A growing presence in Latin America
This multinational company has been expanding through Latin America since the 1990s, when it first acquired the majority stakes in the Argentinian market. It acquired companies like REMIL in Brazil in 2008, Agua Brisa in Colombia in 2009, and Montevideo Refrescos in Uruguay in 2018. By 2024, Coca-Cola FEMSA operated industrial plants in nine countries, as well as more than 2.15 million sales points across the region.Brazil is the second-largest market for Coca-Cola FEMSA, with a sales volume of over 1.15 billion crates of beverages sold in 2024.
