In recent years, many homeowners turned to this hobby, allowing them to remodel and redecorate their homes and lawns on a budget. Not only has this led to an increase in home improvement projects, but also to a measurable growth of the garden equipment and plants market. In 2024, the combined sales of building materials and garden equipment grew by roughly 32 percent compared to five years before, at more than 488 billion U.S. dollars. Similarly, that same year the revenue of the lawn and garden industry increased, reaching more than 133 billion U.S. dollars.
As figures show growing tendencies in the United States, the global lawn and garden market is expected to experience similar increase, predicted to reach over 400 billion U.S. dollars by 2029.

The American flower and plant exporting business generated almost 480 million U.S. dollars in 2024, way behind its import trade with over four billion U.S. dollars. While export figures produced only slight growth in the past 14 years, the import of flowers to the United States increased by almost 2.5 times compared to 2010. And who is able to supply the U.S. market? Colombia was the number one importer in 2024, trading two times more than Canada, the second on the list.
